A report to Liverpool City Council Planning Committee today advises tenants in a House of Multiple Occupation that they don’t need cycle parking because they live close to bus stops!
The report which relates to an application for an extended HMO in Crawford Avenue in Greenbank ward, was opposed by Green Party Councillor, Lawrence Brown: ‘I find it incredible that the Council are prepared to break their own rules to let this application be approved. With climate change high on the agenda, it’s vital that we encourage more cycling. This recommendation sends entirely the wrong signals and needs to be reversed.’
Here is the wording of the report:
“3.4 Whilst cycle parking has been removed from the development, given the site’s close proximity to the District Centre on Smithdown Road whereby there are frequent bus services, the absence of cycle parking is unlikely to be problematic.”
